Forecast 2012: Past & Present

On February 23, 2012, Melissa Motz presented the Forecast 2012: Past & Present at the Hotel Fiesole in Skippack, PA. Melissa began the evening with some fun Oscar trivia and multiple choice questions about market language. Prizes were awarded to guests with the correct answers.
The objective of the update was to review where we've been, where we are, and where we may be going. Melissa reviewed the big stories of 2011, some of the things the "pros" predicted for 2011, and the actual performance in 2011. The stock market increased dramatically from its lows in March 2009. Unemployment rates are improving, but they're still high. Retail sales have been solid, consumer confidence is up, and after-tax corporate profits are at a record high. Melissa also highlighted some things to watch for in 2012 with the global economy, U.S. housing market, and the U.S. job market.
We would like to thank Matt Delzingaro from Cole Real Estate Investments for sponsoring the event and the Hotel Fiesole for hosting us at their venue.

Melissa attends Cambridge National Conference
Melissa joined over 800 of her colleagues to attend the 2011 Cambridge National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, November 3rd - 5th. Conference participation set a new record as Cambridge Advisors from across the country gathered together at the Marriott Marquis to share best practice ideas between rep-advisors, engage with company executives, and meet new and long-time sponsors. Throughout the conference, members of the Cambridge board – Eric Schwartz, Cambridge founder, chairman, and chief executive officer; Amy Webber, president and chief operating officer; Jim Guy, first executive vice president and chief marketing officer; and Dan Sullivan, senior vice president, marketing – all affirmed Cambridge's commitment to enhance its rep-advisors' journeys to success by promoting initiatives that offer time management, succession planning, and marketing solutions.
Conference attendees received a warm welcome from Atlanta, and, in response, combined their efforts to raise funds for the Fugees Family, a not-for-profit organization devoted to helping child survivors of war develop to their fullest potential by providing them a safe, loving, and educational environment. Prior to the conference, Cambridge donated items for rep-advisors to bid on during a silent auction. On the closing day of the conference, Cambridge presented a check for over $30,000 to members of the Fugees Family in the spirit of giving back and holding true to their values of integrity, commitment, flexibility, and kindness.
Melissa named a 2011 Philadelphia Five Star Wealth Manager
November 1, 2011 - We are proud to announce that Melissa was named one of the recipients of the 2011 Philadelphia Five Star Wealth Manager award. The award winners appear in a special section of the November issue of Philadelphia magazine.
Five Star Professional partnered with Philadelphia magazine to conduct research to identify a select group of wealth managers who are exceptional in both their ability and commitment to overall satisfaction. Fewer than three percent of the wealth managers in the Philadelphia area were selected.
Surveys were provided to approximately one in four high-net-worth households (more than 120,500 households) and more than 9,000 financial services professionals within the Philadelphia area.
Survey recipients were asked to evaluate wealth mangers they knew through personal experience and to evaluate them based upon nine criteria. Both negative and positive evaluations were included in the scoring. Only wealth managers with a minimum of five years of experience were considered. Each wealth manager was reviewed for regulatory actions, civil judicial actions and customer complaints as reported by regulatory agencies. The final list was reviewed by a panel of local financial services industry professionals.
Please join us in congratulating Melissa on this excellent achievement!

A duet of sliced pork tenderloin and roasted monkfish was paired with William Hill Chardonnay from the Central Coast of California and Kenwood Yulupa Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma County, California. 2011 Half Time Report
On August 18, 2011, Melissa Motz presented our sixth annual Half-Time Report at the Hotel Fiesole in Skippack, PA. Melissa began the evening with some fun pet trivia. Did you know that 33% of Americans call their dogs while they’re away from home to leave phone messages for them? And that there are one million dogs in the United States who have been named primary beneficiaries of their owners’ wills? Melissa is thinking about starting financial planning for dogs’ trusts! Prizes were awarded to guests with the correct answers.
The update was very timely considering the volatility of the market recently. Melissa reviewed the four big stories of the first half of 2011, including the Greek Bailout, global debt, and US housing, unemployment and confidence numbers. She reviewed the optimists’ view of the stock market going forward – a “cheap” housing market, strong corporate earnings, and consumers living within their means, and what the “bears” are saying about the future of the stock market – inflation, companies hoarding cash, and underwater mortgages. Melissa also talked about our tactical investment strategy and explained how it works in such a volatile market.
We would like to thank John Keating and David Fiorita from Delaware Investments for sponsoring the event and the Hotel Fiesole for hosting us at their venue.
